COMMUNICATION & DIGITAL

UX & interaction design.

UX and interaction design focus on how people understand and use products, services and digital interfaces.

Make the everyday feel effortless. Start by making a small project, then compare the learning process across programmes.

What you could explore

A useful way to understand ux & interaction design is to examine the choices behind a finished outcome. Who is it for? What problem does it address? How was it tested? Look for a programme that makes these questions part of studio practice.

Skills to look for in a curriculum

  • User research
  • Interaction flows
  • Usability testing

These are exploration themes, not a promise about every programme. Check the actual module list, assessment methods and workshop access on each institution’s official website.

Try a small project

Observe someone booking a local service. Prototype a simpler journey and test it with three people.

Keep a record of research, alternatives, feedback and changes. Use the result to decide which parts of the process you want to learn more deeply.

Choosing your study level

For a first degree, compare the foundation year, studio breadth and the point at which you specialise. For postgraduate study, examine the required prior experience, depth of research and final project.

Possible career directions

UX designer, interaction designer, user researcher. Job titles overlap across organisations; a degree does not guarantee a particular role, salary or placement.

Questions to ask before applying

  • Can I see the current curriculum and examples of student projects?
  • How much feedback and supervised studio time is included?
  • Which equipment and materials will I need to pay for?
  • What does the institution require for my educational background?
